The Head Mistress

The principal of Union Preparatory School, Mrs Leona Rich, joined the staff in January 2008 after many years in Education in the Cape Province as well in Gauteng. She is enthusiastic about leading the staff and the pupils of her school through the exciting journey that life brings and is passionately committed to education.

Our ultimate goal, she says, "is to guide the pupils in our care to become well-rounded, problem solving and caring individuals, who function effectively in our multi-cultural society."

She grew up and went to school in the Karoo, thus being able to identify with the needs and aspirations of the local youngsters.

She believes that an Academic Institution is only as effective as the people who manage it and teach there, and is confident that with the dynamic team of educators, the excellent School Governing Body and capable administrative and ground personnel, Union Preparatory will continue to prosper and do justice to its reputation as one of the best Preparatory Schools in the country.
