After the singing of the School Hymn, the ceremony opened with a meaningful Bible reading and prayer delivered by Deputy Head Boy, ๐—ง๐—ฟ๐˜†๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—›๐˜‚๐—น๐—น๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป, and Deputy Head Girl, ๐—ž๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜‡๐—ฎ ๐—ก๐—ฒ๐—ถ๐—น๐—น, setting a reverent tone for what was to follow.

This was followed by the Head Prefectsโ€™ Address, in which Head Boy ๐—ฆ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ถ๐—ฟ ๐—ž๐—ฎ๐˜‡๐—ถ and Head Girl ๐—”๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ต ๐—ฆ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฒ reflected with warmth and sincerity on their journey through the school – a journey marked by laughter, challenges, growth and unbreakable friendships.

As the slideshow of memories played, capturing moments from their Grade 12 year, there was laughter, nostalgia and quiet tears – a vivid reminder of how quickly time passes and how much these young men and women have grown.

Finally, as the School Song echoed through the hall, the Class of 2025 stood together one last time as Union learners – united in spirit and tradition.

Union High School held its annual ๐—ฃ๐—ฅ๐—œ๐—ญ๐—˜๐—š๐—œ๐—ฉ๐—œ๐—ก๐—š ๐—–๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—˜๐— ๐—ข๐—ก๐—ฌ for its Primary Department (Grade 5 to 7 learners) earlier today, Friday, 17 October.

Although the ceremony saw numerous awards being presented to learners across all subjects and grades, the climax of the event was the presentation of the ๐—ข๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—จ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐—ฒ ๐—ฆ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐——๐˜‚๐˜… ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฟ which was this year awarded to Grade 7 learner, Angelique Kyanda-Kaboza who received a big round of applause from her peers and all present in the hall.

Cricket vs St Andrew’s – Results

Union High School recently participated in a two-day cricket fixture against St Andrewโ€™s High School, with both the U15 and 1st XI teams in action. The matches were played in good spirit, offering both teams valuable experience

U15 MATCH REPORT

Union High Schoolโ€™s U15 team bowled first, with St Andrewโ€™s posting a commanding total of 352 runs in their first innings. Despite the pressure, Khewzi delivered an outstanding bowling performance, finishing with figures of:

  • 15 overs,
  • 2 maidens,
  • 82 runs,
  • 6 wickets.

Well done, Khewzi, on an exceptional display of bowling skill and perseverance.

Union Highโ€™s batting line-up struggled against a disciplined St Andrewโ€™s bowling attack, being bowled out for 22 runs in the first innings and 47 runs in the second. St Andrewโ€™s U15 team secured victory by an innings and 283 runs.

1st XI MATCH REPORT

Union High Schoolโ€™s 1st XI captain, Yaaseen Kazi, won the toss and elected to bat first. The team posted a total of 134 all out, with Leander Kraai top-scoring with a well-played 44 runs.

In response, St Andrewโ€™s were bowled out for 79 runs, thanks to a disciplined bowling effort. The best bowling performance came with figures of 4 wickets for 28 runs Yaaseen Kazi.

In the second innings, Union High batted positively, reaching a lead of 255 runs before declaring. Captain Yaaseen Kazi led from the front with a fine innings of 90 runs, narrowly missing out on a well-deserved century. He also contributed with the ball, picking up 2 wickets.

The match concluded as a winning draw in Union High Schoolโ€™s favour, thanks to an excellent all-round performance by the 1st XI.
