Careers Day 2025

A group of receptive and enthusiastic Union High School, Graaff-Reinet Grade 12s, coupled with experts from various Higher Education Institutions and professionals from our community, made for an inspiring ๐—–๐—”๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—ฆ ๐——๐—”๐—ฌ this year.

The evening event was less formal but equally informative. ๐— ๐—ฟ ๐—๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—•๐—ผ๐—ผ๐˜†๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ป spoke to the Grade 12s about his career journey in the field of Accounting; ๐— ๐—ฟ๐˜€ ๐— ๐—ผ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ ๐—Ÿ๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ต๐˜ delved into to field of law and answered some fascinating questions; ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—š๐˜„๐˜†๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ต ๐—ฑ๐˜‚ ๐—ฃ๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜€ gave a fascinating talk on how our lives sometimes take 180ยฐ turns – often for the better – enlightening the Grade 12s on joining the police force.

The talks ended with ๐——๐—ฟ ๐—”๐—ฑ๐—ฟ๐—ถ ๐— ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜‡, a local physiotherapist, who engaged the group on a discussion on the medical field, focusing on her specialization. Union High is extremely grateful to these friends of the school who gave up of their time so willingly.

Union High Schoolโ€™s senior rugby players travelled to Komani for a much-anticipated clash against Hangklip High School this past Saturday.

After several missed chances, Liso Booi finally broke the deadlock with a well-earned try, confidently converted by Makukhanye de Beer, who remained flawless with the boot all game.

Hangklip quickly answered back, taking advantage of Union’s struggles to secure restarts. De Beer responded with a try of his own, only for Hangklip to once again bounce back.

Happy Feet – Another Delightful Production!

This past Thursday and Friday evening, Union High School, Graaff-Reinet‘s Primary Department (our talented Grade 5 to 7 learners) waddled into the spotlight to perform a delightful production of ๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ฑ๐˜ฑ๐˜บ ๐˜๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ต, the musical!

With toe-tapping tunes, our young performers brought the Antarctic to life – complete with dazzling dance moves, heartwarming harmonies and an inspiring message about being true to yourself.

Our junior choir and marimba band also deserved their moment in the sun (or should we say snow?) โ€“ their performances added rhythm, richness and a touch of magic to an already spectacular production.
