Saturdayโs clash against Priory was another test of our discipline and patience due to poor umpiring. We controlled nearly 70% of the possession, dominating the game in both territory and chances created. Despite this, Priory opened the scoring after a defensive error. Again, the girls responded wellโfighting back to level the score and then push ahead with a second goal to seal the 2โ1 win. While we had an impressive 30 short corners, we were unable to convert more of those opportunities into goalsโan area weโll be looking to sharpen moving forward. Nonetheless, a solid win and another step forward for the team.
Congratulations to Miley Burger and Antonio Adams on receiving first team caps this weekend .

Overall, a successful weekend for Union Hockey across all teams!
We took on Framesby in what turned out to be a competitive fixture. Despite going 1โ0 down early in the match, the girls showed composure and stuck to our structure. A moment of brilliance from Nadine Murray brought us levelโshe picked up the ball just outside the halfway line, eliminated four defenders and finished confidently to equalise. From there, we settled into our structure, moved the ball well, and took control of the game. Our attacking intent and team cohesion saw us pull away to a commanding 5โ2 victory.

1st XV match report
From the opening whistle, it was clear this was going to be a physical and high-intensity encounter. Union set the tone early, with Shaakir Kazi crossing the line for the first try within minutes. Xavier Barlow followed up with a second try, giving Union a dream start at 14โ0.
The momentum continued with tries from Peter-Daniel Clegg and Yaaseen Kazi, extending the lead to 26โ0. Despite consistent pressure and control from Union, a brief lapse allowed the hosts to score just before half-time, bringing the score to 26โ7 at the break.
The second half saw Union resume their dominance. The kickoff was secured and turned into immediate attacking pressure. Makukhanye de Beer added his name to the scoresheet, followed by two more tries from Yaaseen Kazi โ completing a well-deserved hat-trick. Yonela Wana also impressed with two tries of his own, sealing an emphatic 53โ7 victory.
A special mention goes to Yaaseen Kazi for his outstanding hat-trick performance and relentless work throughout the game.
