As a part of their 𝗩𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘, Union High School, Graaff-Reinet’s Grade 12s were treated to an interesting demonstration by Rinette Enslin, the executive chef and owner of the Bloemfontein-based Olive Chef School.

The art of fine dining was beautifully demonstrated and the learners’ eyes opened to the stressful – but rewarding – career of cheffing.

Attention everyone! Union High School, Graaff-Reinet will be hosting its Term 2 SANBS blood donation drive on Tuesday, 16 May.

The donation process is quick, easy, and safe. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘈𝘕𝘉𝘚 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴. All blood types are needed, so whether you are a first-time donor or a regular donor, your contribution is vital and appreciated.

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 to senior chess players 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗲 and 𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗲 who both achieved excellent results during the second of three trial events hosted by the Sarah Baartman District Chess Union on 1 April at the Fountains Mall in Jeffreys Bay.

Jasmine was placed 2nd in the u/16 Girls’ section and received a silver medal.

Neelon was placed 3rd in the u/16 Boy’s section and received a bronze medal.

𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩!

[The three-trial qualifier will be followed by a closed tournament, to which selected players will be invited. A district team will then be chosen for the provincial chess tournament later this year.

In addition to playing a minimum number of games, players must participate in at least two of the three trials taking place in Kouga, and obtain a score of 50 percent or more in each, to be invited to the final closer.]

𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲-𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲!

Union High School, Graaff-Reinet’s 2023 primary department stage production, 𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗟𝗘𝗗, will run in the school hall on Thursday and Friday, 4 and 5 May.

Based on the 2010 Disney animation, Tangled is a re-telling of the classic fairytale, Rapunzel. Described as an “adventure musical” that takes Rapunzel and her “rescuer” Flynn Rider from a lonely tower in the woods, to the raucous Snuggly Duckling Pub, and to the distant Kingdom, where Rapunzel and Flynn finally find home.
