𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦, 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘶𝘳 2024 𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦.

Rocco de Villiers, undoubtedly one of South Africa’s most celebrated pianists, will visit Graaff-Reinet for a 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗢𝗡𝗟𝗬 #concert, in which some of our young, but formidably talented pianists, will join him for a programme of short sets.

𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙛 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬𝙘𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙨 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙙𝙚 𝙑𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙨, the second half will see the flamboyant de Villiers entertain the audience with a magnificent performance on the piano.

This very special concert is set to take place on Friday evening, 16 February at 19:00 in the John Rupert Theatre.

We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Union High School, Graaff-Reinet’s 𝗧𝗢𝗣 𝟭𝟬 candidates from the Class of 2023 for their outstanding academic achievements during the recent NSC examinations.

𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙮, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙪𝙢𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙤𝙛 44 𝙨𝙪𝙗𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨.

The 𝗧𝗢𝗣 𝟲 candidates distinguished themselves by achieving A aggregates, a testament to their exceptional academic prowess.

1. 𝗖𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 – 9 distinctions, achieving an outstanding 92.63%.

2. 𝗦𝗶𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘁𝗵𝘂 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗮 – impressive performance with 6 distinctions, attaining a commendable 89%.

3. 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗢𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗳𝘀𝗲𝗻 – demonstrating excellence with 5 distinctions, securing a well-deserved 84%.

4. 𝗖𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 – an exceptional achievement of 6 distinctions with an impressive 83.29%.

5. 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 – notable performance with 4 distinctions, achieving a commendable 80.86%.

6. 𝗧𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗮 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 – demonstrating excellence with 3 distinctions, securing a remarkable 80%.

7. 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 – a commendable achievement of 5 distinctions, attaining an admirable 79.29%.

8. 𝗚𝗲𝗺𝗺𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗲 & 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗮-𝗟𝗲𝗲 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻 – they both deserve recognition for their outstanding performance, each obtaining 3 distinctions and an impressive average of 78.43%.

10. 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 – an exceptional achievement of 3 distinctions with a notable average of 77.43%.

Union High School, Graaff-Reinet is incredibly proud of the outstanding achievements of its Grade 12 learners in the recent National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations, which has seen the school being recognised as the third highest achieving school in the Sarah Baartman, Nelson Mandela, Chris Hani West, Buffalo City, Amathole East and Amothole West cluster of educational districts.

𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝗠𝗿𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿:

Under the guidance of Mrs Belinda Grewar, the English Home Language class achieved an impressive 98.4% pass rate, with one subject distinction. Mr. Maarten Kruger led his learners to a 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 in Afrikaans FAL, accompanied by an impressive 7 subject distinctions.

𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝗠𝗿 𝗕𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗠𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮 & 𝗠𝗿 𝗘𝗹𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗷𝗶𝗲𝘀:

With a commendable 96.1% pass rate and 8 subject distinctions, Mr Bienvenue Mbanga and Mr Elrich Jantjies have proven their expertise in guiding learners through the complexities of Mathematics.
