Arthur Kingwill House, Union’s termly co-educational boarding establishment, is situated against a magnificent mountain backdrop, and is home to our Grade 5 to Grade 12 termly boarders.

The House was built in 1953 in memory of past pupils who served in World War II.

The boarding house offers a comfortable, home-away-from-home environment with great care and thought put into ensuring that boarding life is organised in a way that gives the girls and boys the structure they need as well as making sure they have a lot of fun!

The boys and girls are housed in separate wings at Arthur Kingwill House and are cared for by a resident superintendent, matrons and duty staff, who all live on the premises. They have separate prep facilities, common rooms, sleeping quarters and bathroom facilities with a joint dining hall, where nutritious meals are served and a shared TV/games/ common room.

The House offers structured prep sessions and academic support for boarders.

The boarders have easy access to all the sport facilities at the school as well as their own tennis courts, cricket nets and enormous front and back lawns for recreation, including a braai area.

Pastoral care plays an important role in the hostel with various types of worship activities held on a daily basis, as well as fun-filled evenings playing touch-rugby and other sports on the boarding establishment’s manicured lawns.

Boarding at Arthur Kingwill House allows girls and boys to develop independence and self-discipline in a supportive and kind environment.
