Junior Interschools Athletics

The recent Interschools’ athletics meet, contested by the Grade 1 to 7 learners of Union and Volkskool on Monday afternoon, 23 October, saw several records being broken.

Six of these new records were set by Union High School, Graaff-Reinet‘s Grade 5 to 7 athletes.

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 to the following new 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗗 𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦:

– Boys u/11 Shotput: 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝘁é 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 surpassed the previous record of 8.77 meters by achieving a remarkable throw of 9.46 meters.

– Girls u/11 100m and High Jump: 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗞𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮-𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘇𝗮 proved her versatility in both sprinting and high jump. She improved the 100m record from 14.57 seconds to an impressive 14.44 seconds. Additionally, she raised the bar in the High Jump from 1.12 meters to a height of 1.15 meters.

– Girls u/12 100m and Long Jump: 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿 set two new records. She bettered the 100m record from 14.28 seconds to 14.15 seconds. Furthermore, she excelled in the Long Jump, surpassing the previous record of 3.84 meters with an impressive jump of 4.22 meters.

– Girls u/13 High Jump: 𝗔𝗹𝘆𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗽 improved the previous record of 1.27 meters to a height of 1.31 meters.
