A group of receptive and enthusiastic Union High School, Graaff-Reinet Grade 12s, coupled with experts from various Higher Education Institutions and professionals from our community, made for an inspiring 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗗𝗔𝗬 this year.
During the morning session, the Grade 12s were given 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 by private institutions including Eduvos, Varsity College, The International Hotel School and UXI Sport.
𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘷𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘴, 𝘥𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮, 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘺 𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘸 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘴, 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺!
The evening event was less formal but equally informative. 𝗠𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗻 spoke to the Grade 12s about his career journey in the field of Accounting; 𝗠𝗿𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 delved into to field of law and answered some fascinating questions; 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝘄𝘆𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝘂 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀 gave a fascinating talk on how our lives sometimes take 180° turns – often for the better – enlightening the Grade 12s on joining the police force.
The talks ended with 𝗗𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝗿𝗶 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘇, a local physiotherapist, who engaged the group on a discussion on the medical field, focusing on her specialization. Union High is extremely grateful to these friends of the school who gave up of their time so willingly.
