The ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐๐ก๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ฆ๐๐๐ข๐ข๐๐ฆ ๐๐๐๐ฆ๐ฆ ๐ก๐๐๐๐ง proved to be a resounding success, with silent excitement filling the Union High School hall as our players faced off against their counterparts from Volkskool.

Unionโs players carried themselves with professionalism and warmth, showing both respect and camaraderie towards their opponents.
๐ข๐ป๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ดโ๐ ๐๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ผ๐๐ ๐บ๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ came from Grade 9 learner ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ฎ ๐๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ๐ฒ, who executed a flawless Scholarโs Mate – checkmating her opponent in under two minutes with just five moves.
The ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ brought both competitive spirit and good humour to their friendly matches, emerging with a strong 9-5 win.
Our ๐ต๐ถ๐ด๐ต ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐ผ๐น ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ fought valiantly, narrowly losing 13-15, with one match stretching to nearly an hour of tense, strategic play.
The ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐ผ๐น ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐, despite some nerves, showed true grit in their 11-17 loss against stiff competition, while the Union Preparatory School, Graaff-Reinet team delivered a determined performance to secure an 11-9 victory over Volkskool.
Although Volkskool clinched the overall win with a tight 41-35 score, Unionโs players can be immensely proud of their performance.
