Introducing a new educator at Union High School, Graaff-Reinet is always an exciting moment, but when a new appointment results in a Grade 5 learner being overheard saying they hope their day starts with a double maths lesson – words that are rarely, if ever, uttered in school corridors – you just know that that teacher brings with them a passion for their subject that is truly infectious.

Mr Smit brings with him 19 years of experience teaching Mathematics, previously honing his skills in Suideroord, Johannesburg. His extensive background and dedication to education have already begun to inspire and engage our junior learners, making maths an exciting and enjoyable subject.
