This past week saw Union High School’s 𝗧𝗢𝗣 𝟲 𝗝𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗢𝗥 boys and girls tennis players represent the school at the Cradock Spar Tennis Tournament – 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴, 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘴.
𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗹, securing victories against Outeniqua Primary, Clarendon Park and Clarendon Primary School for Girls. Finishing second in their group behind Stirling, they advanced to play for 3rd and 4th place. Despite a hard-fought final match against Fichardtpark, the girls ended in a commendable 4th place overall out of 10 schools – 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘰𝘧.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 in Summerwood, Tjokkies and Selborne, losing all three encounters, they bounced back however, with spirited wins against Fichardtpark and the Cradock B team.
𝘐𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘸𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘫𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘴, 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘴, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥.
