
Union High School learner 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 made a splash at her first gala of the registered swimming season this past weekend, competing at the prestigious 4-day PEA Winter Gala in Gqeberha.
𝗦𝘄𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝟭𝟬 & 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 – which featured between 28 to 32 swimmers per race – Catie delivered an outstanding performance, placing within the top 15 in every event.
𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴, 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 6.67-𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘱 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 50𝘮 𝘉𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢 4.42-𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 100𝘮 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦.
With this strong start to the season, Catie is now just 0.41 seconds away from qualifying for an SSA Level 2 time – 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁.
