U/13 Cricket Tour To Knysna – Results

Union High School’s U/13A cricketers enjoyed an unforgettable tour to Knysna this past weekend – 𝘢 𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘴, 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘣 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵.

𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟯 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿:

In a 𝗹𝗼𝘄-𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿, Union suffered a narrow 𝟮-𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁 to Kenridge. The Cape side posted 69/8 in their 30 overs, with 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘆𝘂 𝗞𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗼 (𝟮/𝟭𝟰) and 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘆 (𝟮/𝟭𝟰) keeping things tight. In reply, 𝗘𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗺𝗲𝘀 top-scored with 24, but Union were bowled out for 67 – 𝘢𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺.

𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟰 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿:

Union bounced back brilliantly to claim a 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝟵𝟲-𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗻 over Welgemoed. 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 (𝟲𝟭) and 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘆 (𝟯𝟱)* powered Union to 189 before the bowlers took charge. 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗽𝘀 (𝟰/𝟭𝟱) and 𝗘𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗺𝗲𝘀 (𝟰/𝟭𝟴) tore through the opposition to bowl them out for 93 – 𝘢 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦.

𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟱 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿:

Union continued their fine form with a 𝟵𝟵-𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 over Elkanah House. A 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝘆 from 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 (𝟭𝟭𝟮 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝟴𝟰 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀) set up the total of 189. In reply, Elkanah were dismissed for 90, with 𝗟𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗹𝗶 (𝟯/𝟭𝟯) and 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘆𝘂 𝗞𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗼 (𝟮/𝟭𝟳) leading the bowling attack. 🏆

𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟲 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿:

The final game against De Hoop went right down to the wire. Union posted 101, with 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗽 anchoring the innings on 𝟰𝟭 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁. Despite great effort from 𝗘𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗺𝗲𝘀 (𝟮/𝟮𝟬), De Hoop reached the target off the second last ball, clinching a tense 𝟮-𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗻.
