The 2025 Cape Schools Festival started on Saturday, 4 October and concluded on Tuesday, 7 October, with 12 schools from the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Free State attending.
The first two days were played under a one-day, two innings format, in which 120 overs were played over the whole day.ย Days three and four were standard 50-over fixtures.
Selborne College vs Union High
Selborne won the toss in a declaration match and elected to bat first, posting a commanding 350 runs.
Standout Performances:
- Trystan Hulleman: 6 wickets in 12 overs for 78 runs.
- Richard Murray: Scored a well-played half-century.
Excellent efforts from both players in a challenging encounter.

As the boys took to the field for their first ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐ผ๐น๐’ ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ฐ๐ต ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐น๐ฏ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ป๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ด๐ฒ, we celebrated Trystanโs ๐ฑ๐ฌ๐๐ต ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฝ for Union High Schoolโs 1st XI – a well-deserved achievement and a moment to cherish.
Union High vs SACS
Union won the toss and batted first, scoring 298 all out. Unfortunately, six dropped catches in the field proved costly.
Bowling Highlights:
- Yaseen Kazi: Brilliant performance with a 5-wicket haul.
- Trystan Hulleman: Continued his strong form with 4 wickets.
Union High vs Wynberg (T20 Match)
Union batted first, scoring 110 runs. Wynberg responded with aggressive intent, chasing the target in just 10.4 overs with 9 wickets in hand. A tough result, but a valuable learning experience for the team.
Union High vs St Andrewโs College
St Andrewโs won the toss and batted first, scoring 315 runs.
Union, in reply, were bowled out for 138, resulting in a 177-run loss.
