Top Level Learners Visit Karoo Origins Fossil Centre

We are immensely grateful to Professor Rubidge and the team at Karoo Origins – The Fossil Centre for welcoming our learners so warmly. It was a truly enriching experience and a wonderful opportunity for our ๐—ง๐—ข๐—ฃ ๐—Ÿ๐—˜๐—ฉ๐—˜๐—Ÿ ๐—–๐—Ÿ๐—จ๐—• members to deepen their appreciation for the unique natural heritage of our area.

Led by none other than Professor Bruce Rubidge, the learners were treated to a guided exploration of the centre, where they had the chance to discover the fascinating fossil history of the Karoo.

The U/13A team dominated the game from start to finish, displaying excellent teamwork and control. Their efforts were rewarded with a well-deserved 1-0 victory.

U/13A Rugby Match Report:
It was a game of two halves as Lukhona Bulembu and Liya Magqabi each scored twice to give Union a 24-12 halftime lead. However, playing into the wind, the boys lost focus and eventually went down 24-36.

Senior Hockey vs Oranje Meisies & St Michael’s – Results

First Team vs Oranje Meisies (Friday)
Final Score: UHS 1 โ€“ Oranje 5

The match started with great energy and focus from our girls, ending the first chukka 0-0. In the second chukka, we took the lead with a short corner goal from Mia Botha to make it 1-0. Unfortunately, a lapse in concentration and communication during the third chukka saw Oranje capitalize and take a 4-1 lead. They added a fifth goal in the final chukka, leaving the final score at 5-1 in their favour.

Despite the result, I want to commend the first team players for their outstanding effort in chukkas 1, 2, and 4. You not only competed against one of the top hockey schools in the country, you dominated them at times. I am incredibly proud of each and every one of you! Well done Kenza and team.

While not our best performance, the team showed heart and stuck to the structure to secure a  victory. The scoreline doesnโ€™t truly reflect the dominance we had throughout the match.

We created numerous scoring opportunities, earning 15 short corners, but only managed to convert two into goals. This is an area we will continue to work on. That said, credit must go to the girls for their persistence and composure under pressure.
