U/13 Craven Week Selection – Congratulations, Lukhona!

This is a remarkable achievement and we are incredibly proud that he will be representing the Eastern Province Rugby Union at the upcoming SARU National Youth Week being hosted by Selborne College from 30 June to 4 July.

Senior Rugby vs Hangklip – Results

Union High Schoolโ€™s senior rugby players travelled to Komani for a much-anticipated clash against Hangklip High School this past Saturday.

After several missed chances, Liso Booi finally broke the deadlock with a well-earned try, confidently converted by Makukhanye de Beer, who remained flawless with the boot all game.

Hangklip quickly answered back, taking advantage of Union’s struggles to secure restarts. De Beer responded with a try of his own, only for Hangklip to once again bounce back.

A brilliant run by De Beer then opened the way for Athi Mahlati to score, ๐—ด๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—จ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฎ ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿญ-๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฎ ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ณ๐˜๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฒ.

Happy Feet – Another Delightful Production!

This past Thursday and Friday evening, Union High School, Graaff-Reinet‘s Primary Department (our talented Grade 5 to 7 learners) waddled into the spotlight to perform a delightful production of ๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ฑ๐˜ฑ๐˜บ ๐˜๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ต, the musical!

With toe-tapping tunes, our young performers brought the Antarctic to life – complete with dazzling dance moves, heartwarming harmonies and an inspiring message about being true to yourself.

Our junior choir and marimba band also deserved their moment in the sun (or should we say snow?) โ€“ their performances added rhythm, richness and a touch of magic to an already spectacular production.

Senior Hockey vs Priory – Results

Saturday, 17 May vs St Dominicโ€™s Priory

Saturdayโ€™s clash against Priory was another test of our discipline and patience due to poor umpiring. We controlled nearly 70% of the possession, dominating the game in both territory and chances created. Despite this, Priory opened the scoring after a defensive error. Again, the girls responded wellโ€”fighting back to level the score and then push ahead with a second goal to seal the 2โ€“1 win. While we had an impressive 30 short corners, we were unable to convert more of those opportunities into goalsโ€”an area weโ€™ll be looking to sharpen moving forward. Nonetheless, a solid win and another step forward for the team.

Congratulations to Miley Burger and Antonio Adams on receiving  first team caps this weekend .

Friday, 16 May vs Framesby High School

We took on Framesby in what turned out to be a competitive fixture. Despite going 1โ€“0 down early in the match, the girls showed composure and stuck to our structure. A moment of brilliance from Nadine Murray brought us levelโ€”she picked up the ball just outside the halfway line, eliminated four defenders and finished confidently to equalise. From there, we settled into our structure, moved the ball well, and took control of the game. Our attacking intent and team cohesion saw us pull away to a commanding 5โ€“2 victory.
