At the Union Schools, our hope for the future has always been bigger than any challenges we face and in an ever-changing world, our dedication to excellence, opportunity and the holistic growth of every learner remains unwavering.

It is in this spirit of optimism and resolve that we are proud to share our vision for the Union Schools’ state-of-the-art 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 – a transformative project born from our belief in the boundless potential of every child.

Slated for completion in the coming years and located adjacent to our main AstroTurf hockey field, the new Centre will be a multi-sport facility designed to inspire, support and elevate the physical development, wellness and competitive spirit of our learners.

𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀. We are actively engaging with philanthropic partners and potential benefactors who share our vision for youth empowerment through sport. This means the Centre will be brought to life at no financial cost to the parents or families of our school – 𝘢 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘦 𝘨𝘪𝘧𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦.

At the heart of the Centre lies a fully adaptable indoor arena, equipped with an innovative netting system that allows for transformation into eight indoor cricket nets, an action cricket pitch, or an indoor hockey field. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿-𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱-𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

A high-performance gym will serve as the strength and conditioning cornerstone of the facility, complemented by on-site medical and rehabilitation spaces to foster a holistic approach to athlete care – prioritising health, recovery and sustained excellence.

Overlooking the action will be our second-floor sports administration offices and viewing deck, providing coaches and support teams with an ideal vantage point for coordination and planning. On the ground level, purpose-built amenities – including modern change rooms, a tuck shop and kitchen, comfortable seating and essential storage – will round out the facility.

We can scarcely believe it, but we’re just two weeks away from opening night of our 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗷𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – Happy Feet!

Our talented young cast has been working incredibly hard to bring this heartwarming, toe-tapping show to life and we can’t wait to share it with you.

We are beyond thrilled to announce that this week, Union High School is welcoming a team from Staccato Music to 𝘂𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹’𝘀 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 to create an even more dynamic and engaging environment for our learners and community.

The enhancements will include an impressive array of 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘-𝗢𝗙-𝗧𝗛𝗘-𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗣𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧.

We’re excited to be installing a brand new sound desk, complemented by high-performance amplifiers and bass subs that will ensure rich, full-bodied sound for all our performances.

In addition, we will be equipping our stage with new hanging microphones and wireless belt packs, making it easier for our performers to shine. 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗱!

But that’s not all. We’re equally excited about the complete overhaul of our lighting system. The new setup will not only enhance the visual experience but also offer the capability to be controlled from a computer located at the back of the hall. This means that our lights can be synchronized with music, creating a mesmerizing ambiance that truly elevates the mood and energy of our events.

𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁, especially with 77% of our learners scoring above 90% and an impressive 36% exceeding 95%!

We have just offloaded a truck-load of new 𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗡𝗜𝗖 𝗕𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗦 intended for the Tony Burrell Union’s deck, generously donated by our wonderful Old Unionites.

𝘞𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥!

These benches will serve as an incredible asset to the Union High School campus and clubhouse, creating inviting spaces for gatherings, relaxation and community connection.

In addition to the gratitude we feel towards our Old Unionites, we would also like to extend a 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗙𝗘𝗟𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨 to Mr Gilbert Loots and his team at Montego Pet Nutrition for their exceptional support with the logistics involved in transporting the benches from Johannesburg to Graaff-Reinet. Their assistance has truly been invaluable!
