Union U/11A vs College Hill – T20

Union won the toss and elected to bat first. Liam Raath and Mark Copeman opened the innings and made a positive start. Mark Copeman contributed 13 runs, while Liam Raath top-scored with 21. Despite the good opening partnership, disciplined bowling from College Hill restricted Union to a total of 60 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

In response, Union began well with the ball but struggled to maintain discipline, conceding too many extras. This allowed College Hill to build momentum and chase down the target comfortably, winning the match by 7 wickets.

Union U/13A vs College Hill – T20

Union U/13A produced a dominant performance to defeat College Hill by 116 runs. Batting first, Union posted an impressive 162/3 in 20 overs, led by a superb innings from Grant Murray, who scored 72 off 50 balls*. He was well supported by Matthew Bosch (41), while Edwin Holmes added a quick 18 off 10* at the death.

In reply, Union’s bowlers were outstanding, dismissing College Hill for just 46 in 17.4 overs. Bhotte Mussa led the attack with excellent figures of 3/6, supported by Ben Wormald (2/15) and Grant Murray (1/2), as constant pressure and sharp fielding kept College Hill on the back foot.

U11A Cricket Match Report: Union achieved a convincing 8-wicket victory against College Hill. After College Hill won the toss and elected to bat, Union’s bowlers maintained good discipline and control, restricting the opposition to 74/6 in 30 overs. Mark Copeman was the leading bowler, claiming three wickets.

In reply, Union batted patiently and responsibly. Mark Copeman Liam Raath(13) anchored the innings with Mark unbeaten 34, guiding Union to 76/2 in 26.2 overs and securing the win.

U/13A Match Report: Union U/13A delivered a ruthless performance to secure a 9-wicket victory over College Hill.

College Hill were dismissed for just 12 in 9.3 overs, with Edwin Holmes producing an exceptional spell of 6/3, backed up by Sintayu Kaitro (2/7) and Grant Murray (1/2).

Union High School’s 1st XI delivered a strong all-round performance against Cradock High School on Saturday, 30 January, after winning the toss and choosing to bat.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝟯𝟱𝟰 in 50 overs, built around a fine unbeaten 136 from 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘆. Captain 𝗬𝗮𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗞𝗮𝘇𝗶 added a composed 91, while 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘂𝗺 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗯𝘀’ quick 63 helped Union finish their innings on a positive note.

In reply, Cradock found it tough against a disciplined Union bowling attack and were bowled out for 47. 𝗬𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝗮 impressed with 5 wickets and Yaaseen Kazi followed up his batting with a tidy spell of 5 for 18. It was a rewarding team effort and a valuable learning experience for everyone involved.

On Saturday, 30 January, Union High School’s u15A cricket team delivered a composed performance against their Hoër Volkskool Graaff-Reinet counterparts, securing a 110-run victory.

After winning the toss, Union elected to bat first and built a competitive total of 159 runs, with 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗽𝘀 leading the way with a top score of 29. The boys showed great determination at the crease, working patiently and supporting one another to set a strong foundation for the match.

Defending their total, Union’s bowlers produced a dominant display. 𝗞𝘄𝗲𝘇𝗶 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗮 was outstanding, delivering a superb spell of 6 overs, including 2 maidens and claiming 3 wickets for just 8 runs.

He was well supported by 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗺𝗻𝗮 𝗤𝗼𝗺𝗳𝘂, who added further pressure with 3 wickets for 17 runs.

Together, the bowling attack dismantled the Volkskool batting lineup and sealed a comprehensive win.

𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 produced a superb spell against Stirling High School, claiming an impressive 5 wickets for just 30 runs in his 7 overs. 𝗬𝗮𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗞𝗮𝘇𝗶 was simply sensational against Westering High School, taking a remarkable 7 wickets for only 18 runs in 7 overs. Adding to the accolades, 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 delivered a true all-round performance against Westering, finishing with 5 wickets for 18 runs in 9.3 overs and then backing it up with a well-earned 56 runs with the bat.
