UHS Learners Experience Thrilling Aviation Excursion

Union Grade 12 learners, Arno Nell and David Kinghorn, recently enjoyed the extraordinary opportunity of being flown from Graaff-Reinet to Gqeberha in a Sling 4 aircraft, to participate in an educational excursion geared towards young minds aspiring to explore the realm of aviation.

Upon their arrival in Gqeberha, the learners were warmly welcomed to the Air Traffic Control Tower at the Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport. The dedicated team from the Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) graciously took the time to explain to Arno and David the intricacies of air traffic control operations. Witnessing the team’s enthusiasm for their work left an indelible impression on the learners, inspiring them to explore potential careers in this field.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙛𝙡𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜, provided by the prestigious Madiba Bay School of Flight. Under the guidance and expertise of highly experienced instructors, Arno and David were introduced to the fundamental principles of aviation. From understanding aerodynamics to conducting pre-flight checks, the learners gained valuable insight into the world of flying. The hands-on experience provided them with a real taste of the exhilaration and freedom associated with taking to the skies.
