Senior Rugby Results – HVS Festival

Union High School’s 1st XV rugby was privileged to be invited to the first rugby festival hosted by Hoër Volkskool from 1 – 4 of May 2024.

On the first day of play, Union faced Hoër Middelburg from Middelburg (Eastern Cape). Poor defence and a lack of energy allowed Middelburg to put points on the board. The second half was a different story and the Union boys finally decided that they wanted to play some proper rugby. Union managed to score an unanswered 34 points in the second and did not allow the hosts to put any points on the board. Union won the game by 39-20.

The boys picked up from where we left off on the first day and scored 17 points playing into a very strong wind in the first half of the game. In the second half we could only manage to score one more converted try to end the match with a 24-0 victory.
