On Wednesday, 5 August, the annual Interschools 𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 brought together learners from Union High School, Graaff-Reinet and Hoër Volkskool Graaff-Reinet for an enjoyable programme of speeches, music and friendly competition.
The evening opened with the ever-popular quiz, where the two schools finished in a 𝟯𝟲-𝟯𝟲 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘄 after a closely contested battle of wits.
The programme then moved through the 𝗷𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, interspersed with musical performances by Taegen Hamid and Kira Hector, Ilzé Vorster and Chloe-Anne Fourie, before ending on a light-hearted note with Jean van Wyngaard’s comedy item.
Well done to Union’s 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗸 and 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗸𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝘄𝘂𝗹𝗮, who both claimed second place in their respective speech categories with thoughtful, well-delivered presentations.
