We are incredibly proud of our talented Mixed Martial Arts athletes who participated at the EP Mixed Martial Arts Championships in Despatch at the end of May.

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗮 𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀, including MMA Light, Grappling, Points Fighting, Continuous Fighting and Combat Weapons, bringing home an impressive collection of gold, silver and bronze medals.

The success does not end there! We are delighted to share that 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀, which will take place in Pretoria from 26 June.

We congratulate 𝗞𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗞𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻, 𝗝𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻, 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗲, 𝗖𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗲, 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘀, 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘀, 𝗝𝗮𝗾𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗱, 𝗟𝗶𝗮𝗺 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗮𝗿 and 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗞𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 on their outstanding achievements and wish them every success as they prepare to compete on the national stage.

Well done to the following Union High School boys on their participation in the recent Level 3 rugby trials – a wonderful opportunity to test themselves against strong competition: (𝗨𝟭𝟲) Luyolo Khali, (𝗨𝟭𝟴) Yonela Wana, Tafadswa Munzvenga, Elvandre Meyer and Sibabalwe Mbutye.

On 23 May 2026, Union High School had the privilege of hosting the Sarah Baartman District Chess Association trials. The event brought together talented young chess players from across the district for a day filled with strategy, competition, and sportsmanship. It was an exciting and enjoyable occasion, and we were honoured to welcome all the learners, coaches, and officials to our school.

Congratulations to all our players on their outstanding achievements. Your dedication, hard work, and perseverance continue to make Union High School proud.
