Junior Sport vs Herbert Hurd – Results

The junior rugby and hockey teams experienced a day of mixed results against strong opposition.

Rugby: The U/13A side produced an impressive 36–12 victory, while the U/11A (5–17), U/11B (0–40) and U/13B (0–40) teams battled hard but came up short.

Hockey: There were excellent wins for the U/11A team (2–1) and U/13B team (1–0). The U/11B, U/13C and U/13A sides were narrowly defeated 1–0 in closely contested matches.

Well done to all players and coaches for their effort, commitment and sportsmanship throughout the day.

U/11A: The boys delivered an excellent performance to record a convincing 31–0 victory. Strong defence and well-executed attacking play ensured they controlled the match from start to finish.

U/13A: A dominant display from the U/13A side saw them cruise to a 53–0 win. The team combined powerful defence with exciting attacking rugby, running in several well-worked tries and keeping their opponents scoreless throughout. Grant Murray was brilliant scoring 4 tries.

Hockey vs Framesby & St Dominic’s Priory – Results

Our senior and junior U13A hockey teams enjoyed a busy weekend of fixtures against Framesby and St Dominic’s Priory.

Friday, 15 May
Well done to our 𝗨𝟭𝟯𝗔 𝗚𝗜𝗥𝗟𝗦, who opened the weekend of hockey with a good, hard-fought match against Framesby’s U14A side this afternoon. After leading for much of the game, a late comeback from Framesby saw the match end 4-3 in their favour. 𝘈 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘥.

It was a positive outing overall, highlighted by 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝟳-𝟬 𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 against St Dominic’s Priory, while the U16A side added another solid result with a 2 – 0 victory and the U14As recorded a 5 – 0 win against St Dominic’s.

The U16B girls drew 2 – 2 against Framesby’s U16C team and although the U16C side went down 4 – 0 to Framesby’s U16B team, their effort and commitment throughout the match did not go unnoticed.

Saturday, 16 May

On Saturday, Union High School, Graaff-Reinet’s senior hockey girls hosted Hoërskool Framesby for a set of home fixtures.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 with an exciting 5 – 3 win in a high-tempo match, while the 2nd team also produced a solid performance to claim a 3 – 1 victory.

The U16A, U16B and U14A teams faced tough opposition and unfortunately went down in their matches, while the U16C side responded well with a determined 2 – 0 victory.

This afternoon saw Union High School’s Top 4 boys’ and girls’ U13 tennis players take to the court against a visiting Kirkwood side.

The boys’ matches were more evenly contested, with Kirkwood taking the section on games (50-44) after drawing the matches 3 – 3.

A very special congratulations to 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲, 𝗨𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗶 and 𝗡𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘆 on reaching the milestone of their 50th cap for Union High School’s 1st hockey team, awarded ahead of yesterday’s match against Hoërskool Framesby.

Junior Rugby vs Kirkwood – Results

A successful afternoon of rugby for our junior teams against Kirkwood Primary School, with both sides producing strong performances filled with determination and teamwork.

U/11A secured a hard-fought 12 – 7 victory in a closely contested encounter, showing great resilience and discipline throughout the match.

U/13A delivered an exciting attacking performance to claim a well-deserved 33 – 22 win, with the boys displaying excellent skill, support play, and character.

Senior Rugby vs Asherville – Results

Union High School’s senior rugby sides took on Asherville Secondary School on Saturday, 16 May, delivering a strong set of performances across all age groups.

The 𝗨𝟭𝟰𝗔s set the tone with a 75-7 win, followed by a confident 53-0 result from the 𝗨𝟭𝟱𝗔s. The 𝗨𝟭𝟲𝗔s added another solid victory, winning 29-10, while the 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗫𝗩 secured a 22-7 result.

The 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗫𝗩 rounded off the day in fine style with a 52-3 win.

On Thursday, Union High’s 1st XV faced Spandau and delivered a commanding performance, winning 57–6.
