Union High School is proud to share that Grade 7 learner, 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗥𝗮𝗮𝘁𝗵, has advanced to the national finals of the prestigious 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 (𝗦𝗔𝗖𝗢𝗣𝗔) following a series of remarkable performances at the recent semi-final auditions.

𝘚𝘈𝘊𝘖𝘗𝘈, 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘺, 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘈𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢’𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴.

Emily stood out with her exceptional vocal talent, earning her a place in the Solo Vocals category at the national finals, which will take place in Rustenburg from 3 to 11 October.

During the semi-finals in De Aar this past weekend, 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗲𝘀, impressing judges with her versatility, emotional range and technical skill. Her performances not only captured the spirit of each genre but also demonstrated the heart and dedication she pours into her craft.

Securing a spot in the national finals brings Emily one step closer to an incredible opportunity – joining 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 and representing the country at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles, an international platform where young artists compete at the highest level.

𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘥. 𝘏𝘦𝘳 𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘙𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘴 𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴.

Union High School Grade 5 learner, 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘀, proudly represented the Sarah Baartman District at the Eastern Cape Gymnastics competition held on Sunday, 22 June.

A dedicated member of the Karoo Gymnastics Club, Nareece competed in Level 3 within the 10-11 age category.

𝘏𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘢 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭-𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘢𝘭.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, Nareece, on this fantastic achievement!

Union High School learner 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 made a splash at her first gala of the registered swimming season this past weekend, competing at the prestigious 4-day PEA Winter Gala in Gqeberha.

𝗦𝘄𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝟭𝟬 & 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 – which featured between 28 to 32 swimmers per race – Catie delivered an outstanding performance, placing within the top 15 in every event.

𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴, 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 6.67-𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘱 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 50𝘮 𝘉𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢 4.42-𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 100𝘮 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦.

With this strong start to the season, Catie is now just 0.41 seconds away from qualifying for an SSA Level 2 time – 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁.

Union High School is incredibly proud to share that Grade 11 learner 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲 has officially been selected 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 under the Endurance Ride Association of South Africa (ERASA) in the prestigious international challenge against Namibia – taking place at none other than the 50th Fauresmith Endurance Ride – South Africa’s National Championship event

Out of 283 riders who entered the qualifying series this season, Tristan stood out with consistent excellence. He was shortlisted as one of just 10 junior rider-and-horse combinations and after passing the final veterinary inspection, 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺.

This is more than just a selection – it’s a celebration of Tristan’s dedication, resilience and the beautiful partnership he’s forged with his horse. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗲.
