From the moment the cheerleaders made their unforgettable grand entrance – arriving in true show-stopping style in a police van and a fire truck – the tone was set for an exciting day at Union High Schoolโs 2026 ๐ฆ๐๐ก๐๐ข๐ฅ ๐๐ก๐ง๐๐ฅ๐๐ข๐จ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ฆ, held on Wednesday, 21 January.
๐๐ต๐ฉ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ต๐ฆ๐ด ๐ค๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ต๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ธ๐ช๐ต๐ฉ ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต๐ฉ๐ถ๐ด๐ช๐ข๐ด๐ฎ ๐ข๐ค๐ณ๐ฐ๐ด๐ด ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ ๐ต๐ณ๐ข๐ค๐ฌ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐ง๐ช๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฅ ๐ฅ๐ช๐ด๐ค๐ช๐ฑ๐ญ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ด, cheered on by a crowd that brought fantastic spirit and support throughout the event. After a hard-fought contest, Daly House claimed top honours with 655 points, followed by Arnott House on 528 points.
๐๐ ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐ถ๐ป๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ๐น ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ featured strongly across all age groups. The standout athlete of the day was ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฒ ๐ ๐ถ๐น๐น๐, who achieved an impressive 701 points on the APE tables for his shot put performance in the u15 boysโ category, throwing a distance of 12.14 m. In the u15 girlsโ division, ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป earned three first places in Shot Put, 400m and 3 000m; ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐น ๐ช๐ฒ๐ป๐ต๐ฎ๐บ dominated with victories in the 200m, 800m, 1 500m and Javelin and ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ต๐ฎ ๐ ๐๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ claimed first place in the 100m, 200m and High Jump.
For the u15 boys, ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ secured first place in the 100m, 200m, 3 000m and High Jump, while ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฒ ๐ ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ also won both Discus and Shot Put. In the u17 girlsโ category, ๐ก๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ triumphed in the 800m, 1 500m and 3 000m and ๐๐ฎ๐๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ๐ฏ๐ฒ recorded wins in the 100m, 200m and Discus.
The u17 boys saw ๐๐ฎ๐น๐น๐๐บ ๐๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ฏ๐ take first place in the 1 500m and 3 000m, ๐ค๐ต๐ฎ๐บ๐ฎ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐น๐ผ๐บ๐ผ๐ป win both the Long Jump and High Jump and ๐๐๐๐ฒ๐น๐ฎ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฎ๐๐น๐ฎ deliver an outstanding performance with four victories in the 100m, 200m, 800m and Shot Put. In the u19 girlsโ events, ๐๐ฒ๐ถ๐ด๐ต-๐๐ป๐ป ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ won the 200m and shared the 3 000m victory as part of the first team hockey group, alongside ๐๐บ๐ ๐ช๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐, who also claimed first place in the 400m; ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐น๐๐ป ๐ง๐ฟ๐ผ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ฝ secured wins in the Javelin and Shot Put and contributed to the 3 000m team effort and ๐ ๐ถ๐๐ต๐ฎ ๐ก๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ป was part of the victorious 3 000m hockey team while also winning the Long Jump and 800m
For the u19 boys, ๐๐ถ๐๐ผ ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ถ dominated the sprints with first places in the 100m, 200m and 400m, as well as the Long Jump, while ๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ธ๐ฒ took top honours in the 800m and 1 500m.
