U13 Cricket: Cretchley Tournament – Results

Union U/13A cricket team’s participation in the Cretchley Tournament in Knysna.

After missing three weeks of cricket due to persistent rain, it was great for the boys to get plenty of competitive cricket, playing four matches over three days.

The team opened with a 49-run defeat to Courtrai U/13A in a 40-over match. Grant Murray top-scored with an unbeaten 27, while Edwin Holmes took 4/27 and Sintayu Kaitro 3/33.

On Day 2, Union suffered a narrow two-run defeat to Sweet Valley Primary, with Kevin de Klerk taking an impressive 3/8. They then faced Laerskool De Hoop, losing by six wickets despite an excellent 69 off 56 balls from Edwin Holmes.

The team finished the tournament on a high, securing a seven-run victory over Rhenish Primary. Edwin Holmes again led the batting with 53 off 35 balls as Union successfully defended 115.

Overall, it was a valuable tournament for the boys, providing much-needed match time after the rain-affected weeks, as well as excellent competitive experience and opportunities for growth.

Well done to the Union U/13A team on their efforts throughout the tournament.
