On Saturday, 3 February, Union High School, Graaff-Reinet’s u/11A and u/13A cricket teams faced off against their counterparts from neighbouring school, Laer Volkskool Graaff-Reinet, in an exciting cricketing encounter.
In the ๐จ/๐ญ๐ฏ๐ ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐, Laer Volkskool won the toss and elected to bat first. Union’s bowlers delivered a stellar performance, bowling out the opposition for a total of 69 runs in 29 overs. A special mention goes to ๐๐ผ๐๐ต๐๐ฎ ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐๐ถ๐น๐น, who was awarded the well-deserved title of โMan of the Matchโ. Joshua bowled 7 overs (of which two were maiden overs) claiming 5 wickets for only 10 runs.
The Union team chased down the target in the 9th over with ease. Opening batsmen Jordan Maritz contributed 32 runs and Dante Mills, 10. The team’s collective efforts resulted in a victory for Union, winning the match by 8 wickets.
In the ๐จ/๐ญ๐ญ๐ ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐, Union won the toss and elected to bat, posting a score of 99 runs. Laer Volkskool’s batting line-up struggled against Union’s bowling attack and were bowled out for 60 runs. Union secured a win by a margin of 39 runs.
