Early this morning, Friday, 1 September, Union High School, Graaff-Reinet congregated on the sportsfields to partake in a special assembly marking Arbor Day.

𝘈𝘳𝘣𝘰𝘳 𝘋𝘢𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘴 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮. 𝘈𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴, 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥𝘭𝘺, 𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦.

This year’s event centred around the ceremonial planting of a Camdeboo Stinkwood tree, chosen for its significance and contribution to the local ecosystem.

The assembly began with a captivating devotion led by the passionate members of the school’s Eco Club, who highlighted the intrinsic value of trees and their profound impact on the environment. The school body attentively listened as the Eco Club recited inspiring passages, urging everyone to take care of the natural world.
